About Me

I'm Brittany and I love to make things!

I have loved to sew and make things since I was a little girl.  My parents bought me my first sewing machine when I was 8 or 9, and I would sew grass skirts and grass doors for the treehouse I played in with my brothers.  I loved to make doll clothes and bags, and later started making clothes for myself.  I graduated from college in Industrial Design and worked as a designer for a while before I got married and had a baby.  I love design and I love creating beautiful things.  I am lucky enough to be able to stay at home with my little girl, and sewing allows me to create beautiful, useful things for my family and others.  It's also a great stress reliever!

I like to try to challenge myself with my projects.  I love learning new techniques and improving constantly.  I think the best way to improve is to practice.  I enjoy the online sewing community, because of the inspiration and motivation it provides.  I really like seeing the passion and talent and creativity expressed by so many people throughout the world who are a part of this online community.

I am also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  Being a member of the LDS church brings so much direction and fulfillment to my life.  The video below is of one of the members of the Presidency of the Church speaking about the need to create.  I believe that creativity is a God-given desire and that everyone is inherently creative and everyone has a need to create.

Taking care of my baby and husband, church work and life keep me pretty busy, but if I can get in just a stitch a day (give or take a few days or stitches :), I'm pretty happy.  After all, a stitch a day keeps the shrink away ;)

  1. Just wanted to say that the clothes you sew are very nice, especially the little girl's dresses *squeal*. I've only started venturing into clothing and they don't fit really well.... Oh well, we all have to start somewhere, don't we? =p

  2. Hi Brittany. I have not 'heard' from you for a little while, so I hope you are okay and just enjoying life with your sweet little girls.
    xx Nicole

    1. Nicole, you are so kind to notice and ask about me. We are doing fine, the baby has just been a bit of a fussy one, then I got really busy with Christmas preparation (I over committed, I'll do better next year) then the babies got the flu starting Christmas day and are just now recovered. I'm hoping (really hoping) to start having a little more time to sew, as I have so many plans floating around in my head, but much less time in reality to carry them out...a girl can dream and buy fabric, right? :-) I hope to post something soon, but in the meantime, thank you so much for enquiring about me. It is so kind of you, and means a lot to me that you would even notice. I hope you and your family are doing well!

    2. We are well, thank you and holidaying by the beach.

I am so glad you are okay and do enjoy your beautiful little girls.
